He was summoned by Pasha "Bisqitu (Ghad bin Hamad bin Othman Al-Shamraji)" and appointed as his secretary (scribe).
On the night of Saturday, the eighth of Muharram al-Haram, the year 1006 AH, the Imam... On Monday, the sixth of Rabi' al-Awwal, our brother and beloved... passed away. On the second day of the month of Dhu al-Qi'dah, the Pasha, Othman bin Hamad bin Othman, sent a messenger to Jenneh... The messenger arrived.
On Saturday, the day of the Prophet's birth, they wrote to me about it. On Sunday, the messenger and scribe were given instructions for the journey. I explained from my home and set off the next day. We spent the night on the road for two nights due to the heat. We arrived in Jenneh on Wednesday morning... The month of Rabi' al-Awwal began.
I arrived in the city of Timكت on Monday night, the fifth of the month, and met him that night. He welcomed me and honored me, appointing me as a scribe. We ask God Almighty for forgiveness, well-being, and safety, and for success in religion, this world, and the hereafter... (History of Sudan, p. 107).
It is said that he continued to hold this position during the reign of his successors, Othman bin Hamad, as well, until his death. He was forced to accompany the Pasha on his many journeys, which broadened his knowledge of the north and south of the Sudan, regions he knew nothing about before. From this, it can be inferred that he was directly involved in the affairs of his country from the year 986 AH (1578 AD).
He undertook public works, diplomacy, and mediation. On one of these occasions, he conceived the idea of writing a history of his country, which would allow him to connect past events with those happening before his eyes. He then began writing the history of Sudan. Al-Samadi continued this important work until his death on the fifth of Dhu al-Hijjah 1017 AH (1609 AD).
Here, the group concluded, with the praise of God and His help, the history on Tuesday, the fifth of Shawwal.
