And the ruler loves virtue and its people, and respects each one in his place, and gives the wicked what he can of assistance. And I guarantee you that if you go with us, your worries will be broken, your heart will be satisfied, and you will become a person of wealth, favor, slaves, and camels. A flock of my goats in the aforementioned favor, and go with them, O bearer of pride and joy. And when he arrived with them at the island of Sennar, they said, "The king is here," and informed him that a stranger from the people of knowledge, from a distant land, whose ship had been broken and his means lost, had arrived. So he welcomed him and gave him great reception, and gave him good news of ease and prosperity, and lodged him in his honorable house, and ordered him a generous provision. So he lived in comfort with a honored slave girl, beautiful, radiant, and of great value, named Jalima. So my grandfather was pleased with her condition, and she bore him a boy and a girl of her likeness, and he granted him a livelihood, so my grandfather became rich with wealth and forgot his family in Tunis and his young children. And when he left Tunis, he left three children with their mother. The eldest was the late Sayyid Muhammad, who was nine years old. The middle one was my father, who was six years old. And the youngest was the late Sayyid Muhammad Tahir, who was three years old. Thus I heard from my father and grandfather, may God have mercy on them.
