Chapter One The Dawoodi Tribes (Awlad Aliyush – Ahl Bura – Turmudh – Awlad Zaid – Al-Jaafara) Historical Glimpse The name Awlad Dawood bin Arouq encompasses five tribes that originate in the northeast, and in the west and southwest of the Afakin region. Since their fragmentation, these tribes have become more commonly known under their individual names: Awlad Aliyush, Ahl Bura, Turmudh, and Awlad Al-Jaafara (1). They share a common origin, as they all descend from Dawood bin Arouq bin Audi bin Hassan. Dawood had several sons: Aliyush, Zaid, Jaafar, Yunus, and Ghaylan. Aliyush, through his three sons: Dawood the Younger, Bu Ali, and Bu Zaid, was the ancestor of the Awlad Al-Ibil wal-Baqar and Ahl Bura tribes. As for Zaid, he is the ancestor of Awlad Zaid. Jaafar, through his son Rizq, is the ancestor of Turmudh and Al-Sakakina (2), who have today merged into other tribes. Through Tajliya Hadaj and Mansour, he is the ancestor of Al-Jaafara. As for Yunus, he is the ancestor of Awlad Zaeem, who are prominent today among Awlad Aliyush Al-Baqar.

(1) - Dawood bin Arouq had six sons: Uqba, Zaid, Jaafar, Aliyush, and Saeed. Al-Haswa does not mention Turmudh. (2) - Al-Haswa states that Al-Sakakina are descendants of Uqba bin Arouq. Ghaylan, mentioned by the author, is, according to the most accurate opinions, a descendant of Yahya bin Othman. Yunus is the brother of Dawood. As for Rizq, mentioned by the author, he is the son of Mafkhar, as previously stated. He is the ancestor of a large group of tribes, many of which have disappeared or merged into other lineages. Among them are Awlad Bu Ali, Awlad Attiya, Awlad Abd Al-Wahid, Awlad Askar, Awlad Abid, Awlad Imran bin Rizq, Al-Sakakina, and Awlad Khalifa bin Rizq. According to one opinion, Turmudh and Bassen are also among them.
