Al-Sheikh Bakr, may God have mercy on him, was my uncle, my brother, and my friend. Al-Sheikh Omar, may God have mercy on him, sent me a message, and I went to him. He asked me to go with him to negotiate with them so that they would reach a peaceful settlement. I went and negotiated with them, and they reached a good settlement. I preceded them to Khartoum in the early days of Shawwal. I informed him of what had happened, and he was extremely pleased. He gave me half of the house and entrusted me with raising my children in it. In this month, the incidents and extreme scarcity began, the likes of which had never been seen in the land, the regions, and the countries. People were starving, and a mother was eating her child. Many people died, and God Almighty took them. The earth was emptied of people until they were buried in the graves of the dead, except for those who died in the plague. This was in the year 1248 AH. Then, praise be to God, Lord of the Worlds. Then the commander, Ali bin Rahmoon, was sent by Ismail Pasha, may God have mercy on him. He sent him to Khartoum with me, and the commander Kad arrived with me. They brought him from the city and tied him in chains. He was brought to the Sultan's house for consultation about his case. Then he was ordered to be thrown into Al-Bahr, a place of torture for those who angered him. He was killed there and thrown into the sea. This was in the year 1248 AH. In it, the Amin al-Qa'id Ahmad bin Yahya was dismissed and thrown into the sea in a place called Bur Yutandi. He escaped after his dismissal three days later. He remained in command for five years, not including the days. On Sunday, the twenty-seventh of the aforementioned month, the Amin al-Qa'id Bilqasim was appointed.
