This was from when they were in Masina and continued to do wrong until last Thursday night, one of the months of Shawwal, on the day of Eid. And the two hundred of Ramadan, they brought him to the aforementioned year and spoke to him. And they appointed a man named Ahmad bin Ghayd al-Tilimbiyan as governor. This governor, who was the owner of the land, was named Ahmad bin Ban, and he stayed for three years and eight months. And he was a man of great wisdom and good character. He bought it from the archers, then he moved from Kawa to Bur, then he traveled with it to the land of Shibe, fearing for him from the people of Masina, lest they kill him by treachery. Then he returned to Tishket. The Pasha Ahmad bin Jad, who was in charge of accounting in the Pasha's province, demanded that the dismissed governor Yahya al-Tilimbiyan be brought to account. The people of his tribe said, "If the accounts are prolonged, we will not be able to bear it." So he was brought and audited, and he was found to be innocent. And he remained in Tishket until the spring of the year 1260 AH. As for Pasha Ahmad, he was a man of generosity, liberality, courage, and modesty, of good lineage, worthy of his father in virtue, truthful in speech, and excellent in deeds. He did not stay in that position for more than three months and two days. During his time, the sea receded on Saturday, the seventh of Dhu al-Q'adah, twenty days before Jumada al-Akhirah, after it had been delayed for seven days in the month of Dhu al-Hijjah. And on Sunday at noon, the seventh of Dhu al-Q'adah, the sea receded.
