We continued our journey after preparing for battle. We encountered [Baid] Hamad Sanwa at midday, while he was fleeing. When we reached him, he entered a cave. We could only sense him at the utmost limit of weakness and elevation, so much so that a person would think it was a small bird. We camped at a place called [Zawal] and stayed there for a night. The next day, we sent a detachment in pursuit of him. They found him in that cave and tracked him for the night of Friday and Saturday. On Tuesday, after midday, the twenty-eighth of Jumada al-Ula, we camped at Jabal [Dakka]. On this day, the muezzin [call to prayer] was performed in [Tanaka] without [Bida'ah]. The judge, Ahmad bin Ahmad, saw that people were not praying the eclipse prayer, so he raised his voice to the judge, Ahmad bin Ahmad, saying that it was a [bid'ah]. He prolonged his speech and said that the muezzin was mistaken. He said that the Arabs were like thick smoke that covered the entire land, and people were confused by it and did not know what had happened. They rushed to the ships and fled. [Al-Asad bin] Al-Ghalib said that they should not be afraid, so he said that [Al-Asad] was a [mu'min]. They returned to us on Wednesday. The next day, we set out for [Jal Khayr]. We took all the kitchen equipment, and no one ate or drank anything. We camped at the water at midday near the village of [Dah]. We stayed there for a night.
