Then Pasha Ahmad bin al-Bāghā bin Yusuf al-Jinnāsī took over as Pasha, on the third day of Dhu al-Qi'dah al-Harām in the aforementioned year, by agreement of the Bash. He was kind to the people, a supporter of scholars, saints, and all people of virtue. However, he lacked great ambition. The army took money from his own funds and placed it in the hands of the ruler, Nāsir ibn 'Abd Allah al-Ams, to be a trustworthy leader in Fūr during the reign of the aforementioned Pasha Ahmad. He was appointed from among the Muslims. They pledged to fulfill their rights and dismissed the leader, al-Qāsim al-Nāqiṣ, who was in charge. Among those who died during his reign from the notables was the leader, Ḥamd al-'Arab bin Takhd bin 'Abd al-Qādir al-Shamraq al-Rāshidī, who died in the middle of Safar in the year two hundred and sixty-one AH. On the seventh of the same month, his brother and Muḥannā al-Amīn, the leader al-Qāsim, may God have mercy on him and forgive him by His grace, also died. On the afternoon of the second day of Rabi' al-Thānī in the year two hundred and sixty-one AH, the Qāḍī Muḥammad bin Muḥammad bin Muḥammad al-Karrī, may God have mercy on him, died. He served as Qāḍī for fifty years and remained in his position for ten years. In the tenth month of the same year, the Qāḍī, the faqīh Abū Zayd 'Abd al-Raḥmān bin al-Faqīh Aḥmad Ma'yā, may God guide him and grant him success, was appointed to the blessed position.
