The Amir Askia Al-Hajj Muhammad, son of Askia Dawud, died in the year 990. A great plague occurred in Timbuktu, and many people died. The rebellious raiders from Masina attacked Askia Al-Hajj, plundered some of his belongings, and did things that had never happened in the reign of Askia. This was during the time of Sultan Muhammad of Masina. When the news reached Muhammad ibn Teken, he set out immediately and headed to Masina to take revenge on them without consulting any of his elders. The elders caught up with him after he had gone. His brother Salik and his son Qarm Daka and his uncle Soba, who had been insulted by him, advised him to go to Soba, harboring anger and resentment due to his contempt for them. He attacked Masina and devastated it greatly, killing many of its scholars and righteous people. Miraculous signs appeared after their deaths. The Sultan fled to the land of Senu until the sedition subsided, then returned. When the news reached him, he was angry and sent a messenger to him because Askia had not delayed after the battle. He sent him a messenger. In the same year, Askia Dawud died in the year 936 AH and 6 months. His death occurred in Timbuktu, his farm, where his family and all his children were with him at the time of his death.
