as it was full of slave-dealers and in a very unsettled condition ; there is also very little water on the route.

I give the names of the camps between Gondu and Shaka, which may be of interest ; I believe the distances are correct; Shaka being 163 miles distant from Gondu as the crow flies, about a third must be added.
