the Prince of Kash in the reign of Thothmes III., who superintended the building of the temple at Semna, and made arrangements for its endowment.

At Kumma, on the west bank, we find several reliefs of Thothmes III. in the portion of the temple which he added to his father's building. The dedication over a doorway tells us that the temple was dedicated to Hathor, lady of the city of Satu, and to Khnemu, the repulser of the tribes who fight with the bow. It is interesting to note that it is expressly stated that the temple was built of " beautiful white stone of the country of Shaat," by which we are, no doubt, to understand stone taken from some quarry in the neighbourhood. The reliefs represent : i. Thothmes III. sitting between Khnemu and Usertsen III.
