The Avocet is scarce in the Sudan, though to be found on the lower Blue and White Niles and northwards.

The Stilt is common and widely distributed.

Two other Waders which might be expected to occur in the Sudan, but of which there is as yet no definite record, are the Terek Sandpiper, Terekia cinerea, and the Spotted Redshank, TVotanus (Erythroscelus) fuscus. Both have occurred on the shores of the Red Sea to the south of Port Sudan,
