UGANDA AND THE WAGANDA.

THE country of Uganda is situated on the north, north-west, and west of the Nyanza or Yictoria Lake. Its boundaries are, approximately, the Kagera, or Kitangule, river on the south, the thirtyfirst parallel of east longitude on the west, the first parallel of north latitude on the north, and the Nile on the east. The western frontier of the country is very ill-defined, and may be found to extend considerably beyond the limit here assigned to it.

The Equator, as will be seen from a glance at the map, divides the country into two tolerably equal parts.

Three provinces are included under the general name Uganda : viz. Uddu in the south between the Kagera and Katonga rivers, Singo in the west, and Chagwe in the east. To these must be added the group of islands (probably about 400 in number) known as Sesse.
