Sudan Audeo-Exyptian] FRONTIER TREATIES 169 Kingdom of Wadai from what constituted in 1882 the Province of Darfur; but it shall in no case be so drawn as to pass to the west beyond the 21st degree of longitude east of Greenwich ( 180 40 east of Paris ), or to the east beyond the 23rd degree of longitude east of Greenwich (200 40' east of Paris) .
3. It is understood , in principle, that to the north of the 15th parallel the French zone shall be limited to the north -east and east by a line which shall start from the point of intersection of the Tropic of Cancer with the 16th degree of longitude east of Green wich ( 130 40' east of Paris) , shall run thence to the south -east until it meets the 24th degree of longitude east of Greenwich (21° 40 ' east of Paris) , and shall then follow the 24th degree until it meets , to the north of the 15th parallel of latitude, the frontier of Darfur ás it shall eventually be fixed '.
4. The two Governments engage to appoint Commissioners who shall be charged to delimit on the spot a frontier line in accordance with the indications given in paragraph 2 of this De claration . The result of their work shall be submitted for the approbation of their respective Governments. ...

Art. I. The frontier between the Sudan and Ethiopia agreed on between the two Governments shall be : the line which is marked in red on the map annexed to this Treaty , and traced from Khor Um Hagar to Gallabat , to the Blue Nile , Baro , Pibor , and Akobo rivei Melile, thence to the intersection of the6th degree of north latitude with the 35th degree longitude east of Greenwich .
1 This frontier was delimited by the Supplementary Convention of the 8th September, 1919 (see above , p. 4) . The Convention adds : “ It is understood that nothing in this Convention prejudices the interpretation of the Declaration of the 21st March , 1899, according to which the words in Article 3 shall run thence to the south -east until it meets the 24th degree of longitude east of Greenwich (21° 40' east of Paris)' are accepted as meaning ... shall run thence in a south - easterly direction until it meets the 24th degree of longitude east of Greenwich at the inter section of that degree of longitude with paralle! 190 30 ' of latitude . '
