However, expenses have decreased because the society did not use the fodder it bought due to the decrease in the number of animals it treated. Subscriptions for the Cairo branch are still not going well, as are the donations from wealthy visitors to the country in winter. The police seized 78 animals, which were examined at the society's hospital in Cairo. 16 of them were treated and released, and 110 were treated and placed under observation. 174 animals were released outside the hospital, either due to the lack of necessary facilities or because their owners were Europeans who did not permit their animals to be kept without permission, or because they were unfit for work. The society has branches in Aswan, Qena, Luxor, Minya, Beni Suef, Girga, Giza, Tanta, Mansoura, Benha, Shibin El Kom, Zagazig, and Port Said, and an independent branch in Alexandria. A new branch was established in Giza, and the director of Giza intends to establish a branch in Damanhur this year if the necessary funds are available.
