Amati sat down and said to me, "Peace be upon you, O Khalifa of the Mahdi. Nay, you are the Mahdi himself!" I replied, "And peace be upon you. Who are you?" He said, "I am one of the kings of the Jinn. I used to reside beyond Mount Qaf, which is a journey of five hundred years from this place. It has been five years since I set out with my people from that place to reach the Mahdi. When we reached the inhabited lands, the Prophet, peace be upon him, met us. He was with me and cried out before we reached the inhabited lands, and informed us of the death of the Mahdi and your succession. When we reached the inhabited lands, we found the great saints and the angels in the great mosques mourning the Mahdi. So we joined them in performing the rituals of Islam. Then we left the Sacred Mosque in the afternoon and camped in the plain that lies next to the place of the 'Ardah, where sixty thousand cavalry of the Jinn, not including the infantry, were assembled." The Ta'ayishi said, "And who informed you of the Mahdi's appearance?" He replied, "The Prophet, peace be upon him, informed us of his appearance in the island of [unclear] since then. We have been traveling at a pace of one hundred years per year." I said, "What is your intention?" He said, "Our intention is to seek the Mahdi and attain the virtue of his companionship and to be with him." I said, "In which mosques do you perform the prayers of the Mahdi?" He said, "In the Aqsa Mosque, and in the Sacred Mosque, and in the Prophet's Mosque." Then he came close to me and asked me to pledge allegiance to him. So I pledged allegiance to him, the allegiance of the Mahdi, and I urged him to remain in the place next to the place of the assembly. Then the Ta'ayishi asked him about his age. He said that he was born in the time of Abraham, the Friend, peace be upon him, and that he became king over his people in the time of Moses, the Interlocutor, peace be upon him. And when the Ta'ayishi published this lie, the people were amazed by the Jinn who came to help them. And in the last of the Ta'ayishi's retinue were his cavalry and infantry.
