He took them from them and divided some among the archers, and kept what remained for himself. The archers dug from it until, after his dismissal from his sultanate, he said to him, and he dismissed him on Saturday, the fifth of Ramadan al-Mu'azzam, and his term was five months and four days. The comet appeared on the night of Saturday, the twenty-sixth of the mentioned month, meaning Ramadan, and it remained in the sky from the south to the west with a very strong light, then it became curved and crooked. This is a strange matter that we have not seen before, and it is among the events and oddities of time. In his days, the doors of sedition were opened from every direction and place. This comet appeared this year, which is the year fifty-six and one hundred after one thousand, between the front and rear branches. It stands, know its prophet, and it is as the books describe it. Al-Wadani said that the hadiths mention that earthquakes and horrors occur when this comet appears. I say that this is indicated by what Al-Hakim narrated in Al-Mustadrak and authenticated, saying: The comet with a tail appeared, and I feared that it would be a plague. End of quote. And to this, God knows best, Abu Abdullah Muhammad al-Iraqi, may God have mercy on him, alluded in his poetry, saying: O my friend, hear a word without lies, That the clearest of what has been said about the comet Are the signs of truth, a clear explanation and admonishment, In the conspicuous comet described with a tail.
