And a hundred and forty [years] after a thousand, and during his reign, the severe famine known as "Kayy" began, and the famine continued and spread throughout the lands and reached its peak, and the exchange rate fell to seven hundred and a wadie. And at that time, the measure of a *qadah* began in our land, Tabakat, which is forty *naftas*, and it has remained so until now. As for before that, people did not sell except by setting up trays, and people did not know of selling by the *qadah* except at that time. And the famine continued [33] and followed year after year for seven years. And what people desired in the famine was until the twenty-eighth year and a hundred after a thousand. May God protect us from that and its like. Then he was dismissed in the month of Dhu al-Qi'dah al-Haram, at the end of the third year and a hundred after a thousand, and five months were written in it, and the dismissals were at the end of the month.
Abdullah bin Al-Hajj bin Said Al-Misrani, may God have mercy on him, held the sultanate seven times, according to what I have verified. The first time, he took charge in the month of Rajab al-Fard in the year twenty-five and a hundred after a thousand, after the dismissal of Commander Ali bin Rahoun. In the second of his reigns, Al-Wafi bin Tabna, the chief of Sayyid Ahmad Afadu, came and appointed him as judge for the land of Arwan. Then he sent the *kahia* of the people of Al-Dair with the archers of the *kahia* Muhammad bin Al-Qaid Ibrahim, who was the *kahia* at that time. Then the people of Haif expelled him and prevented him from entering their land until he was recalled. After their return from Haif, the scholars of the land, i.e., the land of Haif, went out and followed him until they entered Tabakat and went to the Pasha to seek protection for their livelihood. Even those who sent the messenger to the Pasha did not succeed. Then they were allowed to deal with the prince and leave him. At that time, from Al-Himi, I saw the scholar Muhammad Tatan'a among the scholars, and I have not seen him since until now. Then they traveled and returned to their land, then the Pasha dismissed him.
