A hundred horsemen from the Arabs arrived, and with them a book stating that the Prophet, peace be upon him, informed him of the truth of Khalil Husayn's vision and that he offers safety to all in El Dueim, even the priests, for whom religious privilege was prepared. He invited them to come to him, and they all responded and presented themselves before him. He received them with cheerfulness and reassured them. As for Khalil Husayn, he was compensated by being included in the spoils of the treasury, and the priests remained until the fall of El Obeid. Then their property was confiscated, and they were forced to embrace Islam under severe duress.

He mentioned the events of El Shate and El Muraba'at.

Ten miles, which is the first village of El Shate, at a distance from El Dueim, El Obeid. It is a stopping place for travelers from El Dueim to Kordofan, and merchants come to buy gum. It is inhabited by settlers from the people of Aswan province. There was a garrison of soldiers there. They dug a trench around the village. Al-Makashif came from the direction of El Mahdi in the province of Sennar. He reinforced him with many emirs from the people of the White Nile, the most prominent of whom was Ibn Kuraif.

Abd Allah Al-Mahdi gathered the tribes of the White Nile and spread his call among them, supporting his brother Ibn Al-Makashif, whom we mentioned earlier, his brother 'Amr Ibn Al-Makashif, and what happened to him in Sennar.

When the news reached the emirs of El Shate, thousands of Ibn Kuraif's men surrounded them. They attacked El Shate and slaughtered the garrison there, and killed women and children. They committed abominations that we have never heard of. They used to drive the captive women like camels, exposing them to the sun and the cold until they died of hunger and thirst. In chains, they beat anyone who was with them. Then they crossed to the island of El Obeid, where there was a garrison of soldiers in a place called Al-Rai', and they ravaged it.
