The elders and the best of the companions, may God have mercy on him, stayed for about two hours in this place, and they did not perform the Maghrib prayer except in the last hour.

As for Al-Hajj Al-Zubayr, this is a man of great cunning and deceit. We have already mentioned his affairs at the beginning of his caliphate, and he was a supporter of the Mahdi. However, after two years of his caliphate, he confiscated his wealth and imprisoned him.

He was with Abdullah Al-Arini, who was an agent of the Mahdi in the Darfur region. He also imprisoned his relatives, Issa and Awad, to seize their wealth.

It is mentioned that Al-Zubayr was a brave man and was loyal to the Mahdi when he was with his dervishes at the equator. The Mahdi rewarded him for this by sending him to his relatives.

Al-Hajj Al-Zubayr remained imprisoned for four years, then he was released, but he did not return to the Mahdi.

When the Mahdi called him, he would raise his voice saying, "Here I am, O Caliph of the Mahdi, peace be upon him." Then his voice would change and his body would tremble as if he were in awe of the Caliph.

He remained with the Mahdi after his release from prison until the Mahdi died.

His father, Abd al-Rahim, was a merchant who, before his death, went to one of the regions to prepare provisions and supplies.
