And he was named the Qadi and he was summoned and he confessed and he asked for forgiveness and he prayed. With his colleagues, and whatever happened in this presence, no one from the people would be blamed, and he would not be blamed. A few weeks after this incident, the market inspector arrested two people, one named Abdul Hayy Abdul Allah Al-Dankali and the other named Abdullah Sajan. They were counterfeiting coins of the type of the Riyalat Al-Maduya, and they were brought before the Qadi, who asked them about their crime. They replied, "We are not counterfeiting, but we are minting money for you." He was surprised by this. He asked them for clarification, and they said that Qadi Ahmad bin Ali was the one who ordered them to mint these coins. They claimed that he was ordered by the Qadi. A letter from the Qadi was brought, containing this statement. The people around him read the letter and confirmed its authenticity from Qadi Ahmad bin Ali. So he was summoned and asked, saying, "Was not the wealth you embezzled enough for you, that you started counterfeiting the currency?" He denied this, so the Qadi presented him with the letter signed by him, and then he returned to confession. The Qadi became enraged, left his council, and entered the palace. He summoned the judges and did not speak to them, but ordered Qadi Ahmad bin Ali to be brought. When he was brought before him, he ordered him to be imprisoned. So he was taken there and then said: "O judges, I will address you in writing after the Maghrib prayer. I want you to hear what I say. Go and do what I say, and tell the people to wait for me." After the Maghrib prayer, the muezzin of the high and exalted call ascended. Al-Aswad (because he was black) was originally a slave of the tribe of Bi'ala, and he was not from them. He had corrupted and remained. The rulers said that he had a better life than his life. The others replied in one voice, "You have done well."
