The dogs and the traitors.

The garrison of the Mahdist stronghold of Damazin, led by Sayyid Bakri, was reinforced by Sayyid Al-Mirghani, who headed towards Kessala to join those already there. He set off with his men, but was intercepted by Mustafa and his soldiers. They killed everyone with Sayyid Bakri and wounded him severely. Then they began to attack the Mahdist convoy to exterminate its occupants. The garrison managed to resist in an orderly fashion until the entire convoy was destroyed. This was a noble deed, fitting for his position, and a testament to his lineage and the greatness of his ancestors.

On the 15th of Shawwal, in the year 1300 AH, the Mahdist convoy was completely lost. They ran out of food, to the point that one of the prisoners told us they asked for an ardab of dura for more than a thousand riyals, but did not succeed.

After this, the Emir, Abd al-Rahman, agreed to the terms of peace with the Ansar, whom the Mahdi had appointed before his death, on the condition that they would not be handed over to anyone other than those who had fought them. The garrison surrendered on the 10th of Shawwal.

They captured the Egyptians and took them to Omdurman, as had happened in El Obeid and elsewhere. Many died of thirst and starvation. Most of the money was taken to Omdurman.

They also captured a large number of rifles and a lot of ammunition. Praise be to God.
