He spent days in the sun, saying, "The torment of this world is better than the torment of the hereafter." He did the same to Muhammad, son of Kashi, just as he did to his own son. For Muhammad, son of Kashi, praised him with great eloquence. A complaining woman came to him and said, "So-and-so said to me, 'You are a prostitute.'" He ordered her to be beaten, and they beat her. His wife, Al-Hassana, raised her voice in reciting the Quran. He told a young boy, "Go and beat her." Among his deeds was his struggle against himself, surpassing the scholars. Al-Faqih Mudawi bin Abdul Qadir, I traveled with him to the Mediterranean Sea. He stayed for fifteen days with only one ablution, neither eating nor drinking nor sleeping nor performing ablution until he returned. Al-Faqih Abdul Dafe' said that when his sheikh, Al-Faqih Shukr Allah, wanted to seek knowledge, he said to me, "Go, let's meet Al-Faqih Hamad." I was leading the donkey. We found him after the evening prayer, praying two rak'ahs and then greeting. Al-Faqih Shukr Allah was sitting in the prayer posture until dawn. So he informed him, "Al-Faqih Shukr Allah, tonight you are tired." Ahmad said, "My master, I thank Him. I did not perform ablution for a long time, nor did I cross a bridge, nor did I spread straw. He criticized me for the bridge and the cows. What is the straw? He said to me, 'I am a student of knowledge.' He informed him of the etiquette of knowledge. So they prayed with the ablution of the evening prayer, both of them. Among his deeds is that they built a slaughterhouse every year. They brought him the Zakat of their livestock, and with its price, he bought slaves and freed them. He freed a group who were raided, and their women were captured. Seventy slaves were brought to him. He gave them axes and freed them, and ordered them to return to their country. Among his deeds is that he did not fear the blame of any blamer for the sake of Allah. Sheikh Abdullah Al-Burnsi came to visit him from early morning until noon, and they did not open for them. Sheikh Abdullah said, "We came from early morning, and you did not open for us." He said to him, "Your sultan above you did not speak, so you speak?" He said, "No." He said to him, "I am in the presence of the King of Kings. I will wake them up, not sit with you." As for his saying, "And the third of my affairs are the intentions and purposes," he remembers Allah with collective remembrance, saying, "Allah is my Lord, and I thank Him, from beginning to end." He meant one of the prophets and intended his work, like Aaron and Moses and others. Nevertheless, he was one whose prayers were answered. He never cursed anyone except that it was quickly fulfilled. He cursed the children of Mujib and Al-Fawgh Al-Haritu, whose settlement was in Omdurman, and they were afflicted with smallpox in that year. He cursed Nuwar, the son of Tahira, wishing him a long life, saying, "So that he may increase in the Zakat." Nuwar did not die after that incident for thirty years, and he died at the age of one hundred and ten years. May Allah be pleased with him, he used to enjoin good and forbid evil. And when he judged between them, Allah granted him the best. He said to Fudda, "Give him his right." He refused and said, "You judged me with falsehood."
