He was given two boys and two servants, and he promised him to return to Hajj with ease, and to give him endowments and jewels. The King and the community honored him more than the King honored him. Then he returned to his country and prepared for the journey of Hajj. He traveled to it with Al-Hajj Khawjali and entered Sennar a second time to King Unsa. Sheikh Khawjali refused to enter Sennar and waited for him in the city of Arbaji. Then he came to him, and they traveled to the Sacred House of God. When he completed his rituals, he returned. When he reached Qoz Rajab (1), God took his soul there, in the year Umm Lahm, the year 1095. His tomb is visible and visited, and he was about fifty years old. May God have mercy on him, Amen.
Al-Makki Al-Nahwi Al-Rabtabi took knowledge from Sheikh Muhammad Al-Masri and mastered all the arts from him. Then he traveled to Sheikh Muhammad Walad Issa and mastered the arts from him a second time. He studied knowledge among the Al-Zaydab (2) in Bajiyah for a period. Then he moved and settled in Al-Mansi (3) and died there. Among those who studied from him were Sheikh Musa Walad Yaqoub Abu Qassa, Al-Sharif Abd al-Rahman, Al-Faqih Hamed Al-Lin, Yusuf Farfar, Al-Faqih Hamid Al-Sardi, and many others. He wrote important commentaries, including his large commentary on Al-Sanusiya in forty folios, his small commentary in ten, and his commentary on the creed of the Risala. It is said that he commented on the Risala, but I have not found it.
Ibrahim, son of Umm Rabia, was born in Hajar Al-Asal (4) and his origin is Tajani. He took knowledge from Abd al-Rahman bin Jabir, one of the forty who reached the degree of Qutbaniyah in knowledge and piety. Ibn Jabir said in his authorization to him: Praise be to God, Lord of the worlds, and peace be upon the messengers. (After that) The brother, the righteous, educated, humble scholar, Sheikh Ibrahim, son of Umm Rabia, has earned leadership and imamate from me. So I made him a Qutb in his place, a tongue in his era, an interpreter in his time, a guide for the seekers, an example for those seeking guidance, and a refuge for the poor and needy, revealing the sun of knowledge after its setting. So I permitted him to convey and teach people what he has verified and heard from me, sincerely. And I have permitted him to publicize it and publicize what is in it and to spread what we have indicated. Whoever receives anything of that, let him beware of the ruin of the inner self. On the date of eighty-two and ninety of the Hijra of the Prophet, and it was written by the poor one, Ibn Jabir Al-Juhani (5) in Al-Arab. And it reached me that our lineage was confirmed from the descendants of Aqil bin Abi Talib, but the first is what has been transmitted from our fathers. So glory be to God, the Knower, the Giver of success to the right. In one copy, it was written by the poor one, Ibn Jabir Al-Husseini in Al-Arab by lineage. And it reached me that our lineage was confirmed from the descendants of Al-Sayih Ahmad bin Omar Al-Zaylai Al-Husseini, the resident of Lahya, unlike Omar bin Ni'mat Allah bin Al-Faqih Ishaq bin Aqil bin Abi Talib Al-Aqili.
(M-H-Tabaqat)
(1) Qoz Rajab is a town belonging to the Kassala province on the left bank of the Atbara River. Opposite it are two mountains in the east called Al-Arnabat, meaning the two rabbits. It is a pass for the known animal because each mountain has a stone opposite it, representing two rabbits. And God knows best.
(2) Al-Zaydab is a town on the left bank of the Nile, south of the town of Al-Damer. It used to have a center of the Anglo-Egyptian government and a Sharia court, both of which have been abolished. Now there is an agricultural company.
(3) Al-Mansi is a town in the Gezira region, in the Managil center, belonging to the Blue Nile province. Its inhabitants are Halawiyun and Arkaiyun.
(4) Hajar Al-Asal is a watering place near the village of Wadi Bishara, towards the Aqaba Quri pass.
(5) Al-Juhani. From studying what Sheikh Abd al-Rahman bin Jabir wrote, it is known that there is a difference in their lineage, whether Juhani or Ashraf. The first is more correct. The most noble of you in the sight of God is the most righteous of you. An Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab except by piety. And God is the Giver of success.
