A Note

The religion stands, and the enemy is displeased. The Prophet, peace be upon him and his family, said: "He will uphold the religion in the end times, just as I upheld it in the beginning."

The Mahdi is from the progeny of Al-Hasan and Al-Husayn. The Mahdi is a man from the lineage of Al-Hasan or Al-Husayn, son of Ali, may God be pleased with them all. It is narrated in the tradition that Ali looked at his son Al-Hasan and said: "This son of mine is a master, as the Messenger of God, peace be upon him and his family, named him. A man will emerge from his loins with the name of your Prophet, who will fill the earth with justice as it was filled with injustice and tyranny." And in another hadith: "He is from this son of mine," and he struck Al-Husayn, may God be pleased with him.

It is said that he is from both of them together. The Prophet, peace be upon him and his family, said: "O Fatima, by Him who sent me with truth, from them – meaning Al-Hasan and Al-Husayn – is the Mahdi of this Ummah."

The Kunya of the Mahdi He will be known as Abu Abdullah. The Prophet, peace be upon him and his family, said: "He will be known as Abu Abdullah." He will also be known as Abu Al-Qasim. The Prophet, peace be upon him and his family, said: "And his kunya will be my kunya." The kunya of the Messenger, peace be upon him and his family, was Abu Al-Qasim.

The Name of the Mahdi, His Father's Name, and His Mother's Name

His name is Muhammad, and his father's name is Abdullah. The Prophet, peace be upon him and his family, said: "His name will coincide with my name, and his father's name will coincide with my father's name." His mother's name is Amina. The Prophet, peace be upon him and his family, said: "...We have known him by his name and his father's name."
