The horses are like our slaves, or rather, they are more active. This is because the horses' activity is such that the slave cannot bear it.

When the horse runs like a downpour, and a heavy downpour, and they emerge from the dust. The downpour is heavy rain, and the heavy downpour is intense rain. The word "munassab" means to fall upon something and cover it. It is also narrated as "asbasab," meaning intense. This horse's charge is like the charge of a downpour, meaning the most intense of rains. And his saying "they emerge" from "ja'd" means they emerge. He means that the dust is stirred up so much that it can hardly be raised. Al-Qutbi said: "Al-ja'd al-ghaffar" means the dust that is stirred up by the hooves. And the "munassab" which has settled on everything and covered it like smoke. Tufayl said: "O daughter of my uncle, do not be afraid of the smoke of the cave, for it is only the smoke of the fire." "Al-dawakhan" is the plural of "dukhkhan" (smoke). This is a description of the horse's speed. The dust is stirred up so much that it can hardly be raised. "When the horse's legs are struck, it becomes agitated. When it is whipped, its speed increases. When it is urged, it runs." "Al-atab" and "al-ma'lub" are the horse's master. "Al-malhab" is a horse that is inflamed. "Al-durrah" is elevation. "Al-fils" is a mother's name from the land and elsewhere. "Al-zajr" is urging. "Al-ahwaj" is foolish. "Al-tuhah" is the leg. The urging from it is like the foolishness of the foolish, meaning the agitation of the legs is the most intense of the running. "Al-muhaddab" is the oppressor. "Al-muhaddab" is the intense enemy. He means a whip that is like an enemy to the oppressor.

The speed of the camels. The speed of the horse in this verse is like the speed of the camel when it is urged. When its leg is touched, it becomes agitated. When it is struck with a whip, its speed increases. When it is urged, it runs.
