Said John the Seer: What does it mean that I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast, full of blasphemous names, having seven heads and ten horns? I asked, "What does this mean?"

The angel said to me, "Why are you so amazed? I will explain to you the mystery of the woman and of the beast with the seven heads and ten horns. The beast you saw was, and is not, but will come up out of the Abyss and go to its destruction. The inhabitants of the earth whose names have not been written in the book of life since the creation of the world will be astonished when they see the beast, because it was, and is not, and yet will come.

This calls for a mind with wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman sits. They are also seven kings. Five have fallen, one is, and the other has not yet come; but when he does come, he must remain for only a little while. The beast, which was, and is not, is an eighth king. It too is one of the seven and is going to its destruction.

The ten horns you saw are ten kings who have not yet received their kingdoms, but will receive authority as kings for one hour, together with the beast. They have one purpose and will give their power and authority to the beast.

They will wage war on the Lamb, but the Lamb will triumph over them because he is Lord of lords and King of kings. And his faithful followers, the called, chosen and trustworthy, will also triumph."

Then the angel said to me, "The waters you saw where the prostitute is seated represent people, multitudes, nations and languages. The ten horns you saw and the beast will hate the prostitute. They will bring her to ruin and leave her naked. They will eat her flesh and burn her with fire. For God has put it into their hearts to accomplish his purpose by agreeing to give their power to the beast, until God’s words are fulfilled. The woman you saw is the great city that rules over the kings of the earth."

The book states: "Let us summarize these visions in the following points: 1. The woman John the Seer saw is a great city with authority over the rulers of the world. The King said to John the Seer: "The woman you saw is the great city that rules over the kings of the earth." This city is Rome, represented by the Vatican, led by the Pope of the Catholic Church, who sits on his throne as a king. As is known, Rome has been called the city of the seven hills since antiquity. This is why the King said about it: "The beast, which was, and is not, is an eighth king." This city, as a stronghold of Satan, is the source of his corrupt plans, which has given it great authority to which the other rulers of the earth are subject.

2. The beast the woman was sitting on is the eighth king of the great city. The King said: "The beast, which was, and is not, is an eighth king." This means that this beast is the eighth Pope of the Roman Church.

3. It is clear from the King's words that the time when these visions occurred, the Pope of the Roman Church had authority similar to that of kings and rulers. This did not happen.
