for the birth; and it is the same history that we previously reached through calculating the period of waiting that separates the two covenants; so the magnitude of this great event is confirmed to us through two ways; and with this confirmation, there is more of it, by the will of God Almighty and His strength.

23 Muslim narrated in his Sahih, from Hudhayfah, may God be pleased with him, that he said: It was said, O Messenger of God, will there be a calamity before the Day of Judgment? He said: Yes, there will be a calamity. It was said: What will be its nature? He said: Calamities will come in waves.

I said: The Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him, singled out these three calamities for their severity, comprehensiveness, and the great negative impact of their consequences on the Ummah, which suggests that these calamities will occur in the Ummah at the end of each stage of the systems of governance that we mentioned previously, so they will be like labor pains that are followed by the birth of something new, except that God Almighty has preserved the first stage – the stage of the prophetic caliphate – from being exposed to calamities, so the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, left his Ummah in well-being in its religion and its worldly affairs. To clarify the connection of the three previously mentioned calamities with the remaining stages of the Ummah, we say, and by God Almighty's success: 24 Abu Dawud narrated in his Sunan, from Abdullah bin Umar, may God be pleased with them, that he said: We were with the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, when a man came and said: O Messenger of God, when will the Hour be? He said: The one asked about it knows no more than the one who asked. He said: Then tell me about its signs. He said: If you see the barefoot, naked, poor shepherds competing in building tall buildings, that is among its signs. And if you see the Hour, then it is one of its signs. And if the moon is eclipsed, then that is among its signs. And if the beasts gather, then that is among its signs. He said: I have more to tell you. He said: The Hour is one of its signs. And if the two great seas meet, then that is among its signs. And if the Dajjal appears, then that is among its signs. And if the earth swallows them, then that is among its signs. And if the sky rains, then that is among its signs. And if the sky is veiled, then that is among its signs. And if the two precious things are lost, then that is among its signs. He said: And what are the two precious things, O Messenger of God? He said: The Quran and the knowledge of the Sunnah. And if the Hour is established, then it is among its signs. And if the Hour is established, then it is among its signs.
